CANAL+
The woman who can't watch movies
Canal+ wanted to create an earned media campaign that dialed up their cinefile credentials, we created a mockumentary about the widow of cinema, featuring the (real widow) Of Sheb Wooley a.k.a. Wilhelm Scream.
The Wilhelm scream is a bit of an injoke between cinema directors and super fans, it has been used in over 200 movies. Not only did we share their story, but we fulfilled her wishes of attempting to put a stop to it.
To do so we launched an online bank of screams where people could donate theirs for directors to use instead of Wilhem, some of the donated screams were featured on films produced by the network.
The micro documentary was featured multiple times in the network capturing a lot of attention and picking up quite a few awards internationally.
